Not when done properly. The risk is real with careless cleaning, which is why it helps to have a tiled roof specialist. We clean hard enough to strip the growth without cracking tiles or forcing water where it shouldn't go.
A clean on its own makes a big difference and is fine as a standalone job. If you want lasting protection and refreshed colour, sealing or painting afterwards is the way to go — that's a full restoration.
Eventually some regrowth is normal, especially on shaded roofs. Sealing the roof after cleaning slows it right down, and a clean every few years keeps it in check.
